Custom Payload Integration 

DJI X-Port is a high-precision 3-axis gimbal that allows drone hardware developers to create their own custom sensors and quickly integrate them on to the DJI Matrice 300 RTK and Matrice 200 Series V2 drones.

DJI X-Port includes a built-in communication API, DJI SkyPort V2 integration, and a gimbal debugging interface.

Working with the Payload SDK Development Kit 2.0, X-Port is estimated to reduce start to finish development time for new payloads by up to 40 per cent.

Control Parameter Settings

The DJI X-Port gimbal enables developers and manufacturers to create payloads based on DJI's gimbal technology, with access to its resources including power systems, communications links, and aircraft status parameters such as GPS data, flight altitude data, and app date and time.

DJI also provides a suite of software products to support developers in using the X-Port gimbal, such as Onboard SDK, Mobile SDK, DJI Pilot app, and DJI Assistant 2 desktop application.

The X-Port gimbal connects the load via the Payload SDK (PSDK) port for both power supply and communication.

Various parameters can be set, including the gimbal pitch, roll and yaw,.

These control parameter settings and user parameter settings can be done with DJI Assistant 2 For Matrice or the DJI Pilot App.

In the development stage, you need to use Payload SDK Development Kit 2.0 with X-Port together.

Payload Requirements

The requirements of the payload mounted on the X-Port is as follows: 

  • The width of the pitch on the X-Port is 80mm. The width of the payload must not exceed the wheelbase.
  • The maximum payload weight is 450g, otherwise it may damage the gimbal or the pressure-reducing-ball.
  • Ensure that a load positioned to the front of the pitch axis centreline will not be blocked by the yaw arm when the load tilts up to 45°.
  • Use the Long Landing Gear if the payload touches the ground.
  • Be sure that the port of the payload is completely flat and ensure that the waterproof seal can be closed completely.
  • Ensure that there is enough connection stiffness between the payload components. It is recommended to use an aluminium alloy shell, avoiding 3D-printed or carbon-fiber shells.
