DJI Announce Master Wheels and Force Pro
At this year’s NAB show in Las Vegas, DJI have announced two advanced gimbal controls for high-end cinematography; the DJI Master Wheels and DJI Force Pro. Both products are designed to offer precision control at a professional level.
These two new products allow users to capture complex shots using the existing DJI ecosystem, the Ronin 2 and upcoming Ronin-S gimbals. Additionally, some third-party integration has also been announced by DJI.

The DJI Master Wheels controller is a wheel-based system that utilises advanced control algorithms, acute sensors and precise optical encoders, to give filmmakers absolute control for the smoothest shots. The wheels can be used to control a gimbals pan, tilt and roll with control over control speed, smoothness, and damping for complete ease and precision. In addition to the highly-sensitive wheel control on the Master Wheels, shots can be repeated with the highest levels of accuracy using the DJI Motion Control. This shows the Master Wheels were clearly made for a film set. Dual-band wireless transmission is available in 2.4 and 5.8 GHz. This guarantees an interference-free connection that’s completely reliable. Latency as low as 10 milliseconds can also be achieved if using a wired connection. The Master Wheels offer a battery life of up to 18 hours removing time constraints on-set. This is through the use of TB50 batteries, which have the same impressive features that are available when using with the Matrice 200 Series and the Inspire 2, such as self-heating functionality.

The Master Wheels are made from weighted stainless steel to offer perfectly stabilised and balanced control. The modules can be manually manoeuvred to suit the needs of each individual user. This allows for the most ergonomic design that doesn’t limit users to a set design, ideal when demands are high. For even greater personalisation, the Master Wheels feature 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 taps, a CAN BUS port and a Mitchell mount with a baseplate for a huge range of uses. This allows professional cinematographers to mount a variety transmission systems and monitors and fulfil their shot demand without boundaries.

The DJI Force Pro is camera movement controller to remotely control gimbals. This is done by mimicking the movement of the Force Pro on the gimbal accurately using the built-in IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) and compass. Advanced control is available through dials on the Force Pro to control the speed of Force Pro’s movement as well as a touchscreen allowing further camera and gimbal control. Like the Master Wheels, wireless transmission is available in 2.4 and 5.8 GHz as well as a wired connection. A transmission latency as low as 10 milliseconds can be given between the Force Pro and gimbal. A battery life of up to five hours is available through the use of a 4750-mA battery. Various charging options are also available through the SB-C port or CAN BUS port, whilst the Force Pro is in use, helping remove time restraints with your shoot.

Light-weight handles come as standard which allows you to mount the Force Pro as well as accessories, transmission systems and monitors.
