The DJI Phantom 3 has become an extremely popular quadcopter in its relatively short life. The Advanced and Professional are so popular in fact that DJI have had to redesign the motors in order to speed up production to meet demand. Now although DJI say these changes won't affect flight performance in any way, they do have the potential to cause a bit of confusion among Phantom 3 owners. DJI Phantom 3 Professional & Advanced DJI Phantom 3 Advanced & Professional Phantom 3 Pros and Advanced coming off the production line now have an updated central board as well  as the new 2312A motors. We understand they're already on the Phantom 3 Standard. The earlier Pro and Advanced models have a different central board and the original 2312 motors. The simple thing to remember is that you can't mix and match them. • Don't replace a worn or damaged old style motor with a new model.
  • Don't mix old motors with new ones.
  • Don't replace all four old model motors with the new ones because they're incompatible with the old central boards.
If you do any of the above, the aircraft could be damaged. The older Phantom 3 motors (2312) will continue to be manufactured for the time being and there is certainly no need to replace them with 2312As as an upgrade. However you do wonder for how much longer DJI will be producing both types of motors, particularly if they produced the 2312A to streamline the production process. If you ever need to replace the 2312 motors with 2312As then you will have to upgrade the central board to the new version. If you can't do that yourself then contact the heliguy™ team on 0191 296 1024 or info@heliguy.com. Phantom 3s with the original motors and central boards will continue to to be supported.
