Heliguy has partnered with ParaZero to sell SafeAir parachutes for DJI drones, helping to increase safety and minimise damage in the result of a flight failure.
These best-in-class parachutes can be integrated with:
- M200 Series. Compatible with DJI Matrice 200, Matrice 200 V2, Matrice 210, Matrice 210 V2 and Matrice 210 RTK. It is not compatible with the Matrice 210 RTK V2 model.
- M600 Pro. Compatible with different antenna configurations including D-RTK model.
- DJI Phantom 4 (excluding RTK model).
- Mavic Pro Series.
- Mavic 2 series, including the Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual and Zoom (excluding modular accessories).

The parachute automatically deploys from your drone if a catastrophic flight failure occurs, helping to protect bystanders on the ground and preventing loss of payload and substantial damage to your drone.
Cases of drones falling from the sky are very rare, but the parachute is an especially simple mitigation and provides reassurance if an unexpected emergency does occur.
How Does The ParaZero SafeAir Parachute Work?
The lightweight recovery system independently monitors key flight parameters of the drone’s avionic systems. The drone flight profile is collected and monitored for anomalies.
When critical failures are identified the mechanical flight termination system automatically cuts power to the drone’s rotors, preventing entanglement with the rotors and mitigating the risk of laceration injuries in the process. The batteries are disconnected once an unexpected descent begins, but remain with the drone.
The parachute ensures an extra layer of protection, which is crucial on drone operations that involve flying over people or property
The patented parachute deployment mechanism then opens the chute to full canopy in a fraction of a second. This controls the descent, enabling safe flight over people, even at low altitudes, and a safe landing of the drone. An audible alarm also sounds on the Matrice (M200 Series/M600 Pro) parachutes to draw attention for those on the ground.
Collected data is stored in a black box and can be used for post-deployment analysis.

Why Should You Use A ParaZero SafeAir Parachute?
Deploying a parachute in the event of flight failure has numerous benefits.
A slower descent helps to minimise damage to property and reduces the risk to members of the public. It also gives greater time to react to an unexpected drone failure.
This is particularly useful and reassuring for the emergency services, who can acquire special exemptions to fly over buildings and people.
A slower, more cushioned landing also means less damage to the drone itself – reducing the cost of subsequent repairs.
Heliguy Successfully Tests ParaZero SafeAir Parachute On DJI M210 Drone
Heliguy successfully demonstrated the effectiveness of a ParaZero SafeAir parachute, testing it out on a DJI M210.
The simulated crash began when the Matrice was 55-metres high. The power was purposely cut and the drone began to fall from the sky. Having detected flight failure, the parachute automatically opened up, almost instantly.
Following the power outage and the rapid deployment of the parachute, it took the drone just over 14 seconds to come to ground. Without the parachute, it would have taken the Matrice less than 3.5 seconds to fall the same distance.
The wind speed during the test was 11mph, blowing in a north-westerly direction.
Thanks to the parachute, the drone only incurred minor damage – the landing gear and Lightbridge antenna snapped on impact with the floor. Falling at speed without the parachute, the drone would have suffered more significant damage – possibly even a write-off.
The image gallery below shows the demonstration, from the drone beginning to fall, the parachute springing into action upon descent and the UAV dropping to the floor. The final image shows the Matrice after impact.
Ben Shirley, Heliguy's Head of Safety and part of the expert training team, was involved in the demonstration and he was impressed with the performance of the parachute, saying that it deployed very quickly and that it did not impact the handling of the aircraft prior to the fall.
His verdict was:
The demonstration was very successful and the chute deployed almost instantaneously once the motor stop was initiated at a height of 55m. The chute then fully deployed within an approximate 10m decent and the aircraft landed about 40m from the drop point. The only damage to the Matrice was to the landing gear and Lightbridge antenna, both of which snapped on impact, however easily repaired by our expert technical team. Even with the cost of this repair, coupled with the price of the parachute and repackaging costs, you would still be saving a decent amount of money, compared to if you didn’t have the parachute. The aircraft handling after fitting the parachute system was virtually indistinguishable, although obviously flight time was marginally reduced due to the increased mass. I was very impressed by the ease of use of the system which integrates easily into the aircraft pre-flight checks and the indicator LED provides added assurance that the system is armed.
